Inert Ceramic Balls

In the field of petrochemical industry, ceramic balls are mainly used as packings for reactors, separation towers and adsorption towers. Ceramic balls have excellent physical properties such as corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance and high hardness, and play an important role in petrochemical production.

As widely used, the customer base is relatively stable. This month, our old customers have repurchased a batch of ceramic balls with sizes of 3mm & 6mm &13mm & 19mm.

Ceramic balls are used for filling, so some people call them packing ceramic balls. Because the chemical properties of inert ceramic balls are relatively lazy, they obviously do not react chemically in the entire reactor. They are used to support and cover the catalyst to prevent the catalyst from shifting. The gas or liquid in the reactor has temperature. The upper and lower filling of ceramic balls prevents the gas or liquid from blowing directly to the catalyst, which protects the catalyst. The shape of the ceramic balls is conducive to the uniform distribution of gas or liquid. Promote more complete chemical reactions.

Ceramic balls can also add AL2O3 with different ingredients according to the specific application conditions. They have some differences in application and performance.

  1. Aluminum content: High-aluminum ceramic balls usually have a higher aluminum content, generally more than 90%, while the aluminum content of low-aluminum ceramic balls is generally between 20%-45%.
  2. Acid and alkali resistance: Since high-aluminum ceramic balls have a higher aluminum content, they have better acid and alkali resistance and can withstand corrosion from acidic and alkaline media. However, low-aluminum ceramic balls have relatively weak corrosion resistance in strong acid or alkaline media.
  3. Thermal stability: High alumina ceramic balls have better thermal stability than low alumina ceramic balls and can withstand high temperature environments. This makes high alumina ceramic balls more widely used in applications such as high temperature catalytic reactions or high temperature filling towers.
  4. Packing performance: High-aluminum ceramic balls have higher hardness, good wear resistance, and strong grain boundary bonding, so they have higher impact resistance and durability. Low-aluminum ceramic balls have relatively weaker wear resistance and are suitable for some general filler applications.

In general, high-aluminum ceramic balls have better performance in acid and alkali resistance, thermal stability and wear resistance, and are suitable for applications under high temperature and corrosive media; while low-aluminum ceramic balls are suitable for general filler needs. When applying a specific application, the appropriate ceramic filler material should be selected according to the specific needs.
